* 1/2 lb. bacon (10 to 12 slices)
* cooking oil
* 1 egg, beaten
* 3/4 c. milk
* 1 3/4 c. flour
* 1/4 c. sugar
* 1 Tbsp. baking powder
* 1 c. (4 oz.) shredded Wisconsin cheddar cheese

2. In a mixing bowl, stir together the flour, sugar, and baking powder. Make a well in the center. Add the drippings-egg mixture all at once to flour mixture. Stir just until moistened. Batter should be lumpy. Carefully fold in bacon, cheese, and cereal.
3. Fill greased or paper-lined muffin cups about 3/4 full. Bake at 400°F for 15 to 20 min. or until golden. Remove from pans; cool on wire rack.
